Veteran Boston comedian Kevin Knox died yesterday morning at Brigham & Women’s Hospital after a six-year battle with cancer. He was 53.
Known as Knoxie by friends and colleagues, the Tyngsboro native and longtime Winthrop residentbroke into the comedy scene in the late-1970s doing impressions. He soon began formulating a brand of nonstop, energetic standup that eventually earned him annual multi-week appearances in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.

Kevin was a unique talent and a wonderful person to know. He reached out to everyone and everyone knew that he was a real person, it wasn't an act with Kevin he was funny but he was truly one of the nice guys. I stayed up last night watching Kevin videos on YouTube, knowing Kevin would want to be remembered with a laugh. He will be missed.
I was shocked to hear this news. Though I did not know him personally, I did see him perform many times. Because of him, I have been contemplating getting over my stage fright and getting on stage myself. After 34 years of marriage, I can still get my wife laughing hysterically and she's a tough audience!
After 34 years of marriage....hmmmmmmmm.
