Hub author Yates’ ‘Revolutionary Road’ work cements his literary rep

It took 47 years for the critically lauded Richard Yates novel “Revolutionary Road” to make the bestseller lists. Thanks to the release of the movie, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, Yates lovers are no longer a small, select group.

When Yates died at 66, in 1992, his realist fiction - grim but not heartless - was out of fashion and his books were out of print. Soon, all nine of his beautifully written works will be available in paperback editions by Vintage Books. It is one of the most gratifying comeback stories in modern literary history.
