PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — While many restaurants are struggling, most restaurateurs don’t talk about their woes until they suddenly close, but the owner of The Friendly Toast in the city and in Cambridge, Mass., is laying it all out there: The restaurants are in jeopardy, and she’s not shy about saying so, reports the Portsmouth Herald.

Melissa Jasper, who owns the restaurants with her husband, Robert, opened the Congress Street eatery 16 years ago and a similar restaurant in Cambridge, Mass., in May. The Jaspers are in serious debt, there’s a lien on her home and, while Melissa Jasper said both restaurants are busy, she needs cash to keep them going.

Yeah, the Cambridge one is a nightmare. Maybe it would be busy if it wasn't so awful. :(

I have been to the one in NH and it was good. But seriously I have to question their business sense, they must have planned the second place as the economy was imploding and then went ahead an opened it. Secondly they didn't appear to do their research well if they didn't see the drop off in September, who did they ask or were they just expecting with the influx of students? I wish them well, but I don't know that I would back them.
