New York City’s beloved Shake Shack is angling for a spot in the heart of the Hub as the owner of the bustling Madison Square Park burger spot is one of two restaurateurs pitching the city on a much-needed new eatery on Boston Common.

That puts the Madison Square Park landmark in head-to-head competition with Boston-bartender-turned-Gotham-restaurant-mogul Jeffrey Mills, whose rival bid envisions an eatery called The Common House featuring “all the cheap eats synonymous with New England.”

The first step for either person is to make sure their campaign contributions to Menino are current.

Not only do their campaign contributions have to be current with Mumbles but the Boston Zoning Board of Appeals needs their tribute. The only people left would be the connected city hall attorney's and city council member. At least with Ross it will be discreet as opposed to "Superfly Turner" or "Want More Wilkerson". Good luck gents and welcome to Boston. I bet this process was not taught at BC!

Why exactly is a restaurant a "much needed" addition. Cleaning and doing some park maintenance is what is 'much needed' - the common looks like a dump half the time.

Just what Boston needs --- more New Yorkers. Aren't there any locals who want to do this ?

Max, from Seattle? Tell me it's not the Max of MM fame? Great idea for the Common too.
