New York City’s beloved Shake Shack is angling for a spot in the heart of the Hub as the owner of the bustling Madison Square Park burger spot is one of two restaurateurs pitching the city on a much-needed new eatery on Boston Common.

That puts the Madison Square Park landmark in head-to-head competition with Boston-bartender-turned-Gotham-restaurant-mogul Jeffrey Mills, whose rival bid envisions an eatery called The Common House featuring “all the cheap eats synonymous with New England.”
