‘Planet 51’ not worth exploring
A “Shrek”-style, 3-D-animated co-production, “Planet 51” is a less entertaining “Monsters vs. Aliens.”
A comic reimagining of a 1950s science-fiction B-movie from Madrid’s Ilion Animation Studios, the film is set on an alien planet upon which astronaut Capt. Charles “Chuck” Baker (Dwayne Johnson) lands. Chuck may have “the right stuff,” but on retro Planet 51, he’s the alien. Get it? That’s the premise, originated decades ago on “The Twilight Zone.”
