Many devoted New England golfers favor the fall above all seasons. The crowds have thinned, the air is crisp and the scenery - in a word, foliage - can be spectacular to the point of distraction. This is particularly prevalent in the heavily wooded region of southern Maine, where you’ll find no shortage of fun, affordable golf courses.

Here you can golf and marvel at nature’s handiwork simultaneously, and have something amazing to look at when you turn away in disgust after chunking a lob wedge and creating a divot the size of Liberace’s hairpiece.
