With cash tight in many households, a traditional Thanksgiving meal may seem like an unaffordable luxury of a bygone era. But give thanks that carving into a turkey won’t empty your wallet.
“Turkey is a value-oriented meal,” said Mary Clingman, director of Buttball’s Turkey Talk-line. “It’s a very economical meal to serve.”

A turkey dinner for 10 at the cost of $42.91 is only $4.29 per person -- hardly expensive at all -- even for someone like me that has been unemployed for 6 months and in the midst of bankruptcy. I don't understand why people only eat turkey for Thanksgiving. Turkey is NOT expensive and it has a lot of uses if you know your way around the kitchen. I bought a 1/2 turkey breast for $8 and made a huge pot of turkey soup that will serve 24 people for approximately 75 cents per serving.
