ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Dick Dougherty, a columnist for the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle who poked fun at presidents, ridiculed his inability to smite crab grass and chronicled his golden retriever’s musings via "thought transference," has died. He was 88.
Dougherty had been in failing health for several months. He died Wednesday at his home in the Rochester suburb of Brighton, said his son, Steve.
