A burglar wanted by police in Swansea, Wales, hated the mug shot of him printed in the South Wales Evening Post as part of the story that he was on the run. So he sent in a better picture of himself standing in front of a police van. The stunt could backfire, because the paper printed the photo on the front page.

A CLUE? YES, WE HAVE A PRETTY GOOD CLUE . . . A man robbed a bank in Bethlehem, Pa., but left his wallet on the teller’s counter. This one didn’t take the cops long.
