Tuesday’s showdown over a property tax increase in Newton should mark a turning point in the way cities and towns build or renovate their schools.
For too long communities have had an edifice complex when it comes to school buildings. And this attitude is not confined to affluent communities like Newton, which owns the high-water mark at $197 million for a new Newton North High School.
