Cops on patrol in Brighton saw a man climbing down a ladder from a second-floor house early Tuesday morning, arousing their suspicions.

When the suspect saw them, he fled, but he was caught after a short foot chase, police said. When asked to explain his actions, the suspect allegedly told the officers he broke into the house to steal drugs. The suspect is also alleged to have attacked a man who woke during the intrusion.
