The hairdresser who coiffed the tresses of accused hit-and-run driver Michelle P. Medeiros said the teen was “calm” during the appointment to which she drove after nearly killing a 12-year-old boy in Lowell.

“I am shaking,” said stylist Maria Parreira, 54, when told by the Herald that her client was the alleged hit-and-run driver. “She was very calm.”

I hope they catch these punks and lock them up for 20 years, no parole. Tough guys behind a wheel.

It was a girl who hit him.. I agree with the jail time.. My daughter was killed by a 22 year old girl on father's day. I was stainoned over Iraq and this fine outstanding girl was going 87mph in a 30 mph zone.

On the bright side the judge gave hera 25 dollar fine.. You see she was trying to not hit a Chimpmunk or Squirrel..

I later dicovered that the Girl's Daddy and the Judeg who handed down that stiff fine was in the same golf league..

But again it was a teen aged girl who hit him

both of the drivers need to go away a loooooong time...and if this is such a trouble spot for speeding have a cop stationed there for a while and hand out tickets like they candy

They should take the man who hit this boy and his street racecar to a local scrap yard and have him watch his car get crushed into a cube, then give him his car back. Then take him to court.

SHOCKED? I'm not shocked that the driver left the scene. So many unlicensed drivers. So many unregistered cars. So many cars now registered as a "commercial" vehicle to a dummy business or dummy corporation and a common set of keys left around for any unlicensed idiot to go for a ride in. TIP for the guilty party's lawyer: Get a change of venue to the Chelsea district court- That court reduces everything down to bare minimum just to get a "responsible" plea from the guilty party so that they don't have to have cops come in to testify. If that doesn't work, they just don't notify the cop to come in to court for trial and the court just dismisses the charge(s).

The Lowell cops should share the blame for this accident. They are obviously doing a bad job of protecting their citizens and ensuring safe roads.

Wow - wonder if this girl was coached by Sen. Galluccio who said the same thing after his most recent hit & run when he injured a young boy... "I left the scene because I panicked."

According to local news station reports, this 12 year old, when struck, was tossed some 45 feet. I'm no accident reconstruction specialist and-from the boy's photo he doesn't appear to be a 220 pound linebacker-but 45 feet seems to be quite a distance to be flung if hit @ 30 MPH.(the speed the girl said she was driving).

It's also interesting to note that, if it is the 17 year old girl who hit him and-as she said-she took off because she was scared-who took her car to the autobody repair shop? Certainly not the 17 year old!
My guess is it was her daddy or mommy who did so.
Which begs the question: Why didn't either of them do the "right thing" by ascorting her backside to the police station then and there? I'm all for protecting our children. But they're doing more harm than good by aiding and abetting her. Great parenting skills mom and dad!! Not!!! If, as another poster suggested, the dad is "golfing buddies" with a judge, this becomes yet another case of how much justice can you afford today I guess.

My prayers for a full and speedy recovery for the boy. He seems to be the only one who did everything right. Was in the crosswalk and had the light in his favor etc...And look what it got him?
