East Boston abuzz after high-profile OxyContin arrest

East Boston residents say drugs have been a plague on the neighborhood for years, and the arrest of one of the area’s rising political stars on OxyContin charges underscores how far the problem reaches.

“There’s a lot of Oxy junkies out here,” said Charlie Berg, 57, of Winthrop. “It’s not a good thing for the neighborhood, but the same thing goes on everywhere.”
